How to Calculate Scores Using the Answer Key?

To calculate your probable GATE score:

  1. Match your responses from the response sheet with the official answer key.
  2. Use the following marking scheme:
    • For Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs):
      • +1 mark for each correct answer (1-mark questions).
      • +2 marks for each correct answer (2-mark questions).
      • Negative marking: -1/3 mark for incorrect answers (1-mark questions) and -2/3 mark for incorrect answers (2-mark questions).
    • No negative marking applies for Numerical Answer Type (NAT) or Multiple Select Questions (MSQs).
  3. Sum up your total marks after adjustments.

Challenging the Provisional Answer Key

Candidates who find discrepancies in the provisional answer key can raise objections through the official portal:

  • Objection Fee: INR 500 per question.
